Phyllis Latour (1921-)

Phyllis "Pippa" Ada Latour was born on 8 Apr 1921 in Durban, South Africa. 

CODE NAME:
Genevieve

She moved from South Africa to England and joined the WAAF in November 1941 as a flight mechanic for airframes. Recruited by the SOE, she joined on 1 Nov 1943 and was commissioned as an Honorary Section Officer.

Phyliss parachuted into Orne, Normandy on 1 May 1944 to work with Scientist circuit organizer Claude de Baissac and his sister Lise de Baissac (courier). Using the code name Genevieve, she was able to avoid detection by the Germans as she sent over 135 messages to London.

She remained in France until its liberation in August 1944. After the war she married an engineer with the surname Doyle and went to live in East Africa.
